Number One Always (NOA)'s application to the Charity Commission for charitable status has been submitted. There is no word in English for somebody who has lost a sibling and it's a form of grief that's been overlooked for too long. We're building peer support, community and advocacy to change that.
Why NOA exists
Hi, I'm Sean McGibney, founder of NOA. 👋 That's me on the left!NOA is built in honour of my big brother Kieran, who died suddenly in January 2025, aged 40.In the months after Kieran's death, I found how little support existed for people who lose a sibling as an adult. Sibling grief is often overlooked, even by those closest to you.NOA exists to provide support and advocacy for bereaved siblings, by people who understand this specific type of loss.
What we're building
NOA will offer:â—‹ Peer-support groups where you don't have to explain what you're feeling, with people who just 'get it.'â—‹ A space to share your story, in your own words.â—‹ A base of tailored resources to help people navigate the grief of losing a sibling.â—‹ A growing evidence base so that sibling grief finally gets the support and recognition it deserves.â—‹ And much more, to be shaped by our growing community of siblings!Want to help shape NOA's initial provision? Where we are
Number One Always (NOA)'s application for charitable (CIO) status is with the Charity Commission. We're building this properly, so NOA is here for the long term and whenever siblings need us. There's still loads of ways to get involved while we're building!
